 Richard C. Pfenniger, Jr. Chairman Richard C. Pfenniger, Jr. has served as one of Continucare's directors since March 2002. As Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, he was appointed president and chief executive officer in 2003 after having served as chairman since 2002. Prior to joining Continucare, Mr. Pfenniger served as chief executive officer and vice chairman of Whitman Education Group for six years until Whitman was acquired by Career Education Corporation in 2003. As chief executive officer, Mr. Pfenniger oversaw the turnaround of Whitman's business. During his tenure, Whitman's annual revenues increased approximately 135%, profitability improved significantly and its market value increased approximately 350%. Prior to his tenure at Whitman, Mr. Pfenniger was an executive officer of IVAX Corporation (a multinational pharmaceutical company), serving as its chief operating officer from 1994 to 1997 and as it general counsel from 1989 to 1994. Before joining IVAX, Mr. Pfenniger was engaged in the private practice of law. |
